Hiding under wraps all winter? Don’t panic. There are many ways we can help you prepare for the upcoming hot weather.

The first thing you have to do is get naked. Yes, you do it every time you shower or bathe  – so this should not be a problem. Before getting wet, take a quick look at your skin. If you notice any new growths, it may be a good idea to show them to your doctor. In areas you cannot see, you may feel something different when you wash. You may even notice some bleeding. This is a warning sign that you must do something. Most skin cancers are found early and are usually curable. Not only can we help you with this, but now Dr. Brender, a board certified plastic surgeon is available on site to expertly look at all your suspicious lesions. A biopsy or excision can be performed at our office and sent for pathologic diagnosis. Remember, skin cancer is the number one cancer people get. Most people will get one, if they live long enough. The results of the Fall 2009 American Board of Family Medicine recertification exam are up, and Dr. Meyer and Dr. Malin passed, and will continue to be Board Certified in Family Medicine for another seven years, through 12/31/2016.

Starting in June, we will be offering the IMPLANON^® contraceptive implant.  IMPLANON^® is a small, thin, implantable hormonal contraceptive inserted under the skin on the underside of the upper arm that is effective for up to three years. It was approved in July, 2006 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

In January we started adding new laboratory services, so that we can better serve our patients.

For most routine labwork, you can now have your blood drawn and review the results with the doctor the same day! Routine visits for adjustment of your cholesterol medications or Coumadin will now be much easier, eliminating extra stops at the lab  or trips to the “Lipid Clinic” or “Coumadin Clinic”. Bariatrix diet products can be ordered online ONLY by patients who are actively enrolled in our weight loss program. You can place an order 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.  If we receive your order by 3:00 PM, we can have your order ready to pick up the same day.  Orders received after 3:00 PM will be ready for pickup the next business day.  Click here or on the order form page link to place your order.

Of course, you can still stop by any time we’re open to purchase Bariatrix diet products.

Dr. Malin and I have been offering weight loss services for just under two weeks now, and today we’ve started our 10th patient on the Bariatrix weight loss program. While we don’t have a total as to pounds lost so far, I’m very happy to report that I’ve lost 11 pounds so far, in under two weeks, and this is the first time I’ve been under 200 pounds since graduating from medical school !

We have some additional products coming in soon, and we’ll post on site when they come in.

Julia and I are excited that we have teamed with Bariatrix Nutrition to expand our offering of Physician Assisted Weight Loss Services in our practice starting in July! As many of you already know, we already provide some weight loss counseling, as well as appropriate use of medications.
